Opera Memphis director Michael Ching was the featured composer last week for the July installment of the Salon Series: Exploring American Voices presented in New York by OPERA America, the national service organization for opera. Singers from Opera New Jersey performed excerpts from Ching's "A Midsummer Night's Dream -- an A Cappella Opera," adapted from the Shakespeare play. Ching has posted pictures from the reading here and here on his blog, "Opera and Beyond." He also kept a blog chronicling the development of the piece.
