Besides his father, legendary producer Jim Dickinson, young Luther was also surrounded by the likes of R.L. Burnside, Otha Turner, Ry Cooder and John Hiatt, among many others. Soaking in this rich tradition of music left a mark on Dickinson, who picked up the guitar at an early age and proceeded to make his own mark in music with The North Mississippi Allstars and, later, The Black Crowes.
